Use Advanced Upload

Review, tag, sort, and organize files before they upload to AIR Fusion, including importing footage from a camera card.

Use Advanced Upload when you want to review, tag, sort, or redirect files before they upload, or when you’re importing footage straight from a camera card.

Before you begin

  • You need the Editor or Admin role.
  • Advanced Upload isn’t currently available within a Project.
  • You’re in the folder you want to upload to. You can also send individual files to a different destination later, during review.
  • The maximum size for a single file is 500GB, though your tenant admin may set a lower limit. Your tenant admin can also limit how many uploads run at once.
  • You can upload any file type, but only supported file types run through AI analysis.

Open Advanced Upload

  1. Go to Files and open the folder you want to upload to.
  2. Click Upload in the left sidebar.
  3. Click Advanced Upload.
  4. Choose how to add files, or drag files or folders directly into the window:
    • Click Browse Files to select individual files.
    • Click Browse Folder to select a whole folder.
    • Click Camera Card for extra options when the source is a supported camera card. See Camera card uploads below.

Review files before uploading

AIR Fusion opens the Bulk Upload screen, showing the folder your files will upload to. These review options work the same way whether you’re uploading individual files, a folder, or a camera card.

  1. Click the checkbox next to a file to select it, or click the checkbox at the top of the list to select every file at once.
  2. Click Details to see basic technical info about a selected file, like its size, type, and modified date.
  3. Click Tags to apply tags to the files you’ve selected:
    • Choose from the tags already listed, or use Filter tags to search for one.
    • Or click + Add next to a tag group to create a new tag on the fly. Type a name, then click the tick to submit it.
    • Click Apply [number] tags to [number] files once you’ve chosen your tags.
    • Once tags are applied, they’re listed next to each file. Click the X on a tag in the file list to remove it from that file, or click Clear tags to remove every applied tag from all selected files at once.
  4. Click Add if you want to add more files to this upload session, then choose Files or Folder to browse for them.
  5. Click Set destination if you need to send selected files somewhere other than the folder you started in. Click Folder to navigate your existing folders and choose a destination. You can send different files to different destinations in the same upload.
  6. Click Sort to reorder the list by title, date modified, or size.
  7. Click Filter… and type part of a filename to find it in the list, then click the X to clear the filter.
  8. Deselect a file’s checkbox once you’re done adjusting it, or click Remove [number] to take selected files out of the upload entirely.

Upload your files

  1. Click Upload Selected ([number]) to upload only the files you’ve checked. If you haven’t selected any files, this button reads Upload All instead, and uploads everything in the list.
  2. Each file shows its own upload progress. Processing continues in the background, so it’s safe to close the window before it finishes.
  3. Click Close when you’re done reviewing progress. Once every file has finished uploading, click Clear to remove them from the list.

Result

If you close the Advanced Upload window while files are still uploading, a toast notification in the bottom-right corner shows “Upload in progress. Your files are still uploading.” Click View on that notification to reopen the upload review, or check progress any time from the Upload panel in the left sidebar. Once the upload finishes, your files or folder appear on the Files page.

Camera card uploads

Clicking Camera Card unlocks options specific to supported camera card structures. Everything in Review files before uploading still applies.

  • If AIR Fusion recognizes the card, it shows a banner like “Camera card detected — Canon XF / XF-AVC / RAW Light.” This gives you more control over what to import, for example only the high-res video. Supported card structures include:
    • Sony XDCAM / XAVC
    • Panasonic P2
    • AVCHD
    • DCIM stills (standard camera memory cards)
    • GoPro
    • Canon XF
    • Canon XF / XF-AVC / RAW Light (Canon Cinema EOS Mark II cameras)
    • RED
    • ARRI
  • Turn off Treat this upload as a camera card if you change your mind and want to import the whole card as a plain folder backup instead.
  • Type a name in Import into for the new folder the files should upload into, or turn on Use current folder instead to skip creating a new folder.
  • Under What gets imported, media files are always included. By default, thumbnail and index files, low-res proxies, and sidecar metadata files are skipped. Turn on any of these individually if you want them included in the upload.

Once you’ve set the card options you want, continue with Review files before uploading to tag or sort your clips, then follow Upload your files to start the import.
